Active Duty Sick Call

Sick Call is for acute or urgent illnesses.

Sign In: Monday thru Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Weekends & Federal Holidays: Closed, use Weekend Acute Care.


When to come to Sick Call:

  • Sudden onset of pain.
  • Injury or Illness resulting in an acute or temporary impaired ability to perform assigned duties.





Immunizations

Immunizations are available in the Center. Infants less than two years old receive their immunizations at the time of their Well Baby appointment.

Active duty soldiers receive their immunizations at their Soldier Medical Readiness Center.

Children 12 years and younger require an appointment for immunizations. Call Central appointments at 288-8888 to schedule.

Adults and children 13 years and older can walk in for immunizations from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.


The FMRC now has flu vaccines (both mist and shot) Currently available.

Immunization walk in times are Monday – Friday 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
and Thursdays 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. at FMRC. More Information

Minor Surgery

FMRC performs several types of procedures in acute and special procedure appointment slots. Treatment of abscesses, warts, skin biopsies, colposcopies, contraceptive placement, ingrown toenails and vasectomies are some examples of the minor surgical procedures available at FMRC.






Obstetrical Care & Exams

The FMRC is home of the Army's first and only Family Medicine Obstetrical fellowship. FMRC provides comprehensive prenatal care from conception to birth for routine and high risk pregnancies. In fact, if leave or deployment allows, your provider will deliver your baby, care for you and your child in the hospital and follow you after your delivery. Routine OB examinations, including lab work, medical consultations and pregnancy advice are services included during your routine OB visits. Please schedule your visits through the Patient Appointment Service, 288-8888.






Pharmacy Services

Pharmacy services are through Darnall's Main Outpatient Pharmacy located in the hospital's basement. It has a complete inventory of medications listed on the Darnall Hospital formulary.

Physicals

Schedule a routine physical appointment with your Primary Care Manager for your child's school or sports physical. Please bring all necessary school forms with the medical records and shot records.

Active duty soldiers should schedule physicals at the SMRC (except gynecologic exams) through the PAS, 288-8888.






Radiology

Complete radiology services are available in the Radiology department on the first floor of Darnall Medical Center.

Radiology hours are Monday – Friday...7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 288-8300.

Referrals

Patients who need specialty appointments are referred to specialty clinics at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center, and local health care providers. This enables providers to refer patients to a variety of health care specialists as needed to meet all the health care needs of our patients.

Referrals are transmitted to the TRICARE Service Center. Health Care Finders call or notify patients by mail of scheduled appointments. Questions can be addressed by calling 254-553-1846.






Routine Appointments

Monday – Friday: 8:20 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Schedule routine appointments through PAS at 288-8888. Call the clinic and leave a message for your Primary Care Manager if you are unable to book a routine appointment through PAS.


When to schedule routine appointments:

  • Non-acute illnesses, medical problems and injuries.
  • Health maintenance (routine physicals and gynecological exams).
  • Management of chronic illnesses (asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.).





Same Day Appointments

Same-day appointments for acute care (recent onset of problem) are available through the Central Patient Appointment Service (PAS). Call the clinic at 288-8280 or 288-8281 if you are unable to book a same-day appointment through PAS to talk to a triage nurse. Our triage nurse will assess your situation and, if needed, assist you in obtaining an appointment. FMRC has limited capabilities to handle walk-ins but we will make every effort to accommodate our patients needs.






Self Care Class

Through the Self-Care Program, you can attend a class and receive a card that entitles you to free, limited quantities of over-the-counter medications at Darnall's pharmacies. For more information, click here.






Sports Medicine Clinic

Darnall's Sports Medicine Clinic is located in the Family Medicine Residency Center on the first floor of Darnall Medical Center. It is staffed by a board certified family physician who is fellowship-trained in Primary Care Sports Medicine. The clinic staff works closely with orthopedic physicians and physical therapists. Additional services such as evaluation and non-surgical treatment of problems related to sports injuries or conditions are available. The clinic also focuses on other aspects of sports medicine such as:

  • Exercise plans for chronic medical conditions and obesity.
  • Exercise during pregnancy.
  • Exercises related to gastrointestinal conditions.
  • Concussions and mild traumatic brain injury.
  • Dermatological conditions in athletes.
  • Pre-participation evaluations (consultation if specific issues arise).
  • Sport psychology.
  • Sports nutrition and ergonomic aids.
  • Adolescent injuries.

You must be referred to this clinic by your primary care provider. Please bring appropriate x-rays and wear the following to the appointment: shorts, running shoes, and if female, athletic bra or tank top.





Well Baby and Child Exams

Comprehensive pediatric care for children from birth to 18 years of age is available at FMRC to include well child visits, CYS physicals, sports physicals and immunizations.

Women's Health

Routine gynecological examinations, pap smears, mammograms and contraceptive counseling are available by scheduling an appointment. Call Patient Appointments, 288-8888.
