Mission and Vision

The Perioperative Nursing Services' (PONS) mission is to provide state-of-the-art surgical care or support to all beneficiaries considered to have diseases or injuries requiring surgical intervention.

Overview

Emergency and trauma cases are evaluated to determine the need for surgical treatment or operative intervention. The Operating Room consists of seven operating suites that support an average of 443 cases per month or 5,300 cases per year. There are eight perioperative services including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology / Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Podiatry, Oral-Maxillofacial, and Urology. The Same Day Surgery / Ambulatory Procedure Unit is comprised of both preoperative and day-of-surgery care. The Post Anesthesia Care Unit provides post-procedure care and support. Sterile Processing provides sterilization services for the operating room and all clinical services in CRDAMC.

PONS consists of the following departments:
