Utilization Management (UM)

apple, stethoscope and tape measure

UM provides an organization-wide, interdisciplinary approach to balancing cost, quality, and risk concerns in the provision of patient care. UM is an expansion of traditional utilization review activities to ensure beneficiaries have access to timely, patient focused, efficient and cost effective healthcare services from accredited and qualified providers.

UM works to encourage patients to stay current on cancer screening (breast, colorectal and cervical) and on management of chronic disease states (asthma and diabetes), along with other targeted healthcare measures (well child visits, follow–up visits after hospitalization for behavioral health diagnosis–just to mention a few). UM also advises providers, clinics, and hospital leadership on how CRDAMC is addressing these specific health issues. UM provides support to all clinics and administrative sections of our facility (Business Operations Division, Patient Administration Division, Referral Management Branch) to promote focused care and to identify and improve clinical and business outcomes. The UM contact number is (254) 288-7263.
