Overview

Third Party Collection Program

The Third Party Collection Program recovers allowable health care costs within compliance guidelines, while supporting the operational and readiness mission of the Military System of Health. Our goal is to identify TRICARE beneficiaries with other health insurance, comply with third party payer requirements, and submit claims to third party payers. Under this program, Darnall Army Medical Center is required by law to bill private health insurance companies for treatment received Darnall Medical Center. Cooperation with this program is a key component in helping us enhance the medical care provided to our beneficiaries. The money recovered from other health insurance companies goes directly to CRDAMC, allowing us to continue to provide Compassionate, World-Class Healthcare to all of our patients. [more...]

Medical Care Recovery Program

The Medical Care Recovery Program processes claims for beneficiaries involved in motor vehicle accidents, personal injury cases (such as slip/fall or animal bite), and Worker’s Compensation injuries (on the job injuries- NON active duty military or federal civil service). If you are involved in an accident of any type and you have liability insurance, please provide this information to the Medical Care Recovery office. Please inform your healthcare provider if your visit is related to a Worker’s Compensation Injury.

Notify the Medical Care Recovery Office of your accident and sign a Release of Information form. To expedite the process, have your insurance company or attorney, fax us a request for records and bills related to accident.

Medical Services Accounts (Treasury)

The Treasury office is responsible for collecting costs associated with healthcare treatment for non-eligible beneficiaries as well as inpatient costs for dependents of retirees and active duty dependents enrolled in Tricare Standard.

Darnall serves as a trauma center for Killeen and the surrounding area. To prevent undue suffering or loss of life, any person brought to the emergency room for treatment is provided emergency care. With the exception of civilian trauma patients, ineligible beneficiaries (those patients not authorized care in a military medical treatment facility) are treated only during the period of the emergency. In accordance with Army Regulation 40-400, the attending physician will discharge/transfer non-beneficiary patients as soon as they are stabilized. Patients must sign a payment agreement.

If you are brought to Darnall as a civilian emergency, you will be billed at the full reimbursable rate for services. Along with the bill, an insurance packet is provided so the patient may provide any insurance information. Darnall is not a Medicare or Medicaid provider. If you are a crime victim you may be eligible for assistance through the State of Texas. More information regarding crime victim assistance is provided through our office. [more...]
